Gerschel and Polsky have written several excellent practical guides for business people so far and this is their best yet! It's filled with inspiring quotes, worksheets, graphics, great content, interesting stats and all in well organized, easy to "dip" into format. Keep 'em coming!
I have read at least four books by Misters Polsky and Gerschel. Rapid Retooling continues in their special niche of converting potentially dry and "theoretical" business concepts into an easy to read, pragmatic, very well researched, and usable guide to how to improve a business. Highly recommended.
This is best practice sharing at its best! Along with engaging and memorable anecdoes, the practical tools make it easy to apply these "retooling principles" in your own organization. "Rapid Retooling" is a great cover to cover read, but works just as well as resource guide targeting a specific chapter to address a specific need. Whether its fostering innovation, overcoming silo thinking or energizing your team, "Rapid Retooling" provides great easy to apply insights!
What I liked about this book was its practicality and real-world examples of how clients, sometimes imperfectly, but always thoughtfully, ready their organizations for the difficult work of getting ready for an unpredictable future. Behind the scenes views of how this happens across industries were included--which helped me to see that retooling is possible on small and large scales.
Rapid Retooling was well written with great information that I immediately shared with my CEO! The real life examples of what companies are doing was valuable in inspiring us to make some positive changes in our company.
This book is very well written by obvious experts and provides a timely framework for helping an organization evolve within an ever-changing business landscape. Most good leaders understand that companies must retool to be competitive and relevant; this book provides the model and tools to help leaders know how to retool their people/talent to create a more adaptive and agile workforce.
As the operator and founder of a small business, I find that it is easy to get caught up in the daily responsibilities and details that keep things functioning. This book will bring you back to the big picture and help you make the necessary changes for growth. There are many examples and worksheets to help you along this path. With the help of this book, I am looking forward to leading my employees through some long overdue "Retooling" versus working with my employees and ultimately only maintaing the status quo.
